The Return of the Shortcakes

(See photos here)

After a two-year hiatus it was time for the Four Seasons Strawberry Shortcakes to make their way back into the bellies of St. John Valley residents. The largest of the club’s fundraisers took the work of many dedicated volunteers and the amazing support of all the businesses and people who purchased the specially created cakes. Wonderful weather with partly cloudy skies and normal May temperatures helped ease the task of moving so many delicious snacks across Acadian River Country.

Over 1,400 cakes were delivered to Van Buren, Grand Isle, Madawaska, Frenchville, St. Agatha and Fort Kent by a team of (13) delivery drivers including: Tom Kent, Ross Daigle, Lester Ouellette, Phil Roy, John Ayotte, Don Michaud, Nelson Jandreau, George Bragdon, Doug Cyr (Cyr Travel) and Tom, Gil and Gerry Roy.

Austyn Hartvigsen enjoys her FSTA shortcake at the Oasis Spa on Main Street in Madawaska on Friday, May 20.

Inside the busy FSTA lodge the crew was led a by a dynamo trio comprised of Lee St. Onge, Madeline Levesque and Sonia Dufour. The support squad included: Cecilia Guerrette, Bea Dufour, Anne Ayotte, Dawn Bragdon, Linda McDermott, Arlene St. Jarre, Susan Frost, Bess Roy, Anita Gagnon, Diane Daigle, Terri Ouellette, Nicole Plourde, Lena Sirois, Emma Gendreau, Mona Fortin, Rinette Madore and Anne Ouellette.

The sales team included John Ezzy, Andrew Martin, Lee St. Onge, Dawn Bragdon, Gil Roy and Colin Jandreau. Purchasing was directed by Mr. Ezzy. Thanks goes out to Anne Ezzy for providing her planning expertise.

A special thanks goes Brian Dubois and Pierrette Soucy and the Madawaska Shop and Save for all their assistance to make this important fundraiser possible. It could not be done without their support!!
