Former Rotary Club Makes Major Donation

Madawaska, Me. The Four Seasons Trail Association (FSTA) was recently gifted $17,545 from the now defunct Madawaska Rotary Club. Former Rotary Club officer and Madawaska businessman, Gary Dufour, presented the check to FSTA Executive Director John Ezzy on June 20, 2023. The club will use the funds to match a recently awarded American Rescue Plan Grant to replace their aging groomer with a new, enclosed cab unit. Currently the club uses tag-along drags and snowmobiles to maintain over 15km of trail, a large start area and a sliding hill for snow tubing. The new unit will significantly increase the club’s capacity to deal with larger storms and prepare trails more quickly after storms.

Dufour stated, “The remaining Rotary officers were excited to support Four Seasons as they offer activities during the winter to help get kids and adults get outside. The winter is long and being able to groom with modern equipment will make a major difference for the whole town.”

FSTA President Colin Jandreau expressed his gratitude on behalf of the club, “We can’t thank Gary and the former Rotary officers for supporting our work to get people out on our trails as quickly as possible after storms. This donation will significantly reduce the amount of the loan needed to make the purchase of our new groomer.” The current groomer, a large duel track snowmobile, is 20 years old and was purchased by the club in 2010. With good maintenance, Jandreau believes the unit will serve the Four Seasons facility for many years.

FSTA will raise the balance of funds to support the groomer purchase with a fundraising campaign this summer.
