Greetings Four Season Members and Friends,
With the fall season upon us let me bring you up to speed on recent events of these last months and on what we have coming up. Last I wrote to you we had just finished with the Acadia Marathon Race in late March. It has been a busy spring and summer with many activities planned for the upcoming fall and winter season.
First let me congratulate Bruce and Kelly Bosse on our membership drive which helped to boost our membership to more than 200 members last year. It takes many man hours of work to keep this organized and billed properly. We are all thankful to you for your efforts.
In late May we had our first Strawberry Shortcake Fundraiser and it was very successful grossing over $3300.00. Thanks go out to Bert Toussaint and her crew.
In June, Ray Beaulieu connected with Tom Gerard and the Irving Oil Company to plant 500 plus trees- Kudos to both of you. We then went on to participate in the Acadian Festival by hosting the Acadian Breakfast at the lodge in late June. Jacques Lizotte and his crew of 20 volunteers put out a great meal and we grossed over $1000.00. I’ve said before and I all say it again where we would be without our volunteers, thanks again to all of you.
The summer months saw Cliff Ouellette and Jacques Lizotte team up to build our beautiful new deck and access ramp. What an addition to the lodge it is - great job to you two and the many helpers you had. Ray and Babe worked on the grounds all summer long. I can't say enough to the two of you. The hours and hours you put in are much appreciated. The grounds surrounding the lodge set the stage and speak volumes about the pride and ownership of the members of The Four Seasons Trail association. It is a fitting background for our beautiful lodge. With the help of the town and its heavy equipment and loads of dirt, some much needed extra parking was added to the parking lot. This will be a necessity in our upcoming winter season. Thanks got out to the town for its ongoing contributions and support of FSTA.
In August we had a volunteer recognition night with live music by Ricky Dean and Ray. It was long overdue. Everyone had a great time enjoying the awesome food and entertainment. John and Ann Ezzy and many volunteers outdid themselves and, despite Mother Nature’s lack of cooperation, the evening was a huge success. Tom Gerard prepared the beans beginning in the wee hours of the night at 3:00 am. We had a great turnout and fun was had by all. Oh yes, we have a new ground pit for cooking beans thanks to Yvon Levesque and Mark Dionne.
In September many volunteers helped build 900 feet of fencing in preparation for our Super Tour Race coming up in late March. Stay tuned for more details on this event. It is our biggest undertaking to date and promises to bring in over 200 racers, some coming from as far away as Alaska!
Regards,
Doug Cyr
